Hello Beloved! It is great to be back with you after the holidays! I pray everyone had a refreshing and amazing time celebrating the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ as well as the New year!
I wanted to talk about love today. As we reflect on the life of the great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr today, we remember many of his powerful quotes that touched the hearts of so many. In one quote he said, “Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend.”
Wow! That is powerful and so true! When we set aside our own feelings and/or resentments towards an enemy, or anyone we just have issues with, and choose to act in love, we are literally transforming that relationship. It is really hard to continue to begrudge a person when they are displaying an attitude of love, especially if we know we are deserving of something not so lovely lol. There have been many times where I have acted really poopy towards my husband, and instead of him returning the favor, he responds with love and it transforms my attitude from poop to potpourri pretty quickly. It is just so hard to stay mad at that man!
In Proverbs chapter 15, it says a gentle (or loving) word turns away wrath. That’s the exact attitude Jesus had towards the ones whom were crucifying him. He actually asked God to forgive them! That is Love! Jesus choosing to DIE for us even though many people hate Him and will never choose to love Him is incredible! Yet He still did it, not asking for anything in return. What LOVE!!!
The apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 13:13 that love is the greatest thing among faith, hope, and love. And that love covers a multitude of sins. Love is where it’s at, folks! There are many facets to love; many things it accomplishes (good things), and many things it takes away (bad things).
When we allow the love of Christ to permeate our hearts, minds and attitudes, we can bring obstacles and strongholds crashing down. I encourage you today, as I also encourage myself, to choose love above all else and watch the transformation take place! Until next time, Beloved….
BE BLESSED!!!
